Our Home Away From Home

That's what the Mynatt's and the Margene's think of Switzerland and especially of our little alpine hamlet of Murren at an elevation of 5,413 ft and only 400 residents.  The Glamour and Glitter of Venice is behind us...as well as another train strike.  Now we're perched on a cliff overlooking the Lauterbrunnen Valley with its 72 wispy waterfalls.  The deafening silence is ALL TOO foreign to us after the last 2 weeks of city life.  Today was a looooong long travel day and lessons in flexibility and stout-heartedness were abundant today starting out with our 3 water taxis never showing up.  OK, not a problem, we just hopped on the vaporetto (Venice's public water bus) and were delivered to the train station in about 15 minutes.  Arriving and changing trains in Milano we discovered a group of senior citizens occupying our reserved seats (they were on the wrong train) and relinquished our seats only after some stiff persuasion from Mrs. Mynatt ;-)

Much much thanks to our students for their flexibility and teamwork.  After all, flexibility and teamwork and two integral lessons we hope to instill in the students.

But as the sights and sounds of Switzerland opened up before us we realized the work was worth the gain!

Denise welcomed us to her Chalet Fontana and her new apartment Geisstiliboden (another one of those tongue twisters!)

And Lydia and team prepared a FABULOUS meal for our group at the Stager Stubli and thank heavens because we were all STARVING!

Afterwards we went for a walk around the village to familiarize ourselves with the surroundings and the absolute stunning beauty of God's creation.

Devotions are over, blog is finished, students are all showered and tucked in and it's only 10:58 pm...what a nice way to end the day.  Tomorrow is our trip to the top of the Jungfrau to the highest train station in all of Europe to the Sphynx Observatory on the Aletsch Glacier.  It will be an exciting day for all!  Mrs. Mynatt said all the kids were asleep as soon as their heads hit their pillow!

Good night from Murren.
